Attention gastronomy newcomers: German Gastro Start-up Award 2022 starts now!

Start-up support and networking - from the first flash of inspiration to a cult shop? Start-ups from Germany, Austria and Switzerland can submit their gastronomic concepts until 10 December 2021 at Whether you are a different kind of culinary thinker, a healthy do-gooder, a crazy revolutionary or a down-to-earth all-rounder: anyone who wants to shape the gastronomy of tomorrow with their creative idea can take part.

Five winning concepts pitch for the main prize at INTERNORGA

A renowned jury of experts - including Cynthia Barcomi, Patrick Rüther and Sophia Hoffmann - will select five winning concepts from all the applicants. For them, the stage is set for the live pitch: the five finalists will present their concept at INTERNORGA on 18 March 2022 and the trade audience on site will vote for the main winner.

Three steps to the winner's podium

The selection procedure is divided into three stages: After an initial pre-selection, the 30 best concepts will enter a social media voting on Facebook. The concept with the most interactions automatically secures a place among the top 10. The other nine finalists are chosen by a jury of experts. The ten selected will then go to Hamburg, where they will present their concepts to a renowned jury of around 15 experts, including TV baker Cynthia Barcomi and Hamburg restaurateur and entrepreneur Patrick Rüther. The jury will select the five most promising concepts according to the selection criteria of innovation, profitability and personality of the founders. At INTERNORGA, the attending trade audience will vote for the main winning concept during the live pitch on 18 March 2022.


The gains

A winner's package worth over 10,000 euros each awaits all five finalists:

  • Two-year guest membership in the Leaders Club Germany
  • Support from a mentor from the jury for 12 months
  • Start-up advice from ETL ADHOGA
  • Participation in the "International Foodservice Forum" congress at INTERNORGA
  • Gastro cash register from orderbird including annual licence, iPad Air and card reader
  • 500 Euro voucher for VEGA catering supplies
  • 1,000 Euro voucher for a Melitta coffee system
  • Professional photo shoot for press photos

The main winner will also receive

  • 10,000 euros as start-up capital
  • a 40-hour consultation worth 5,000 euros from the Leaders Club Germany to further develop their own concept

Who are the organisers

The German Gastro Founders Award is organised by INTERNORGA, the leading international trade fair for the entire out-of-home market, Leaders Club Deutschland, the network for people and companies enthusiastic about gastronomy, and orderbird, the leading iPad cash register system for the gastronomy sector. The competition is supported and promoted by the industry companies ETL ADHOGA, Melitta and VEGA's Gastro Academy. With more than 400 applicants each year, the competition is the largest competition for young gastronomy founders from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
